Joule Unlimited has genetically engineered microorganisms that create biodiesel through photosynthesis, i.e. using only sunlight and CO2. Once commercialized, this will be a game-changing technology, allowing for potential production of diesel fuel at an equivalent of $50 per barrel.

Joule has assembled a world-class international team of scientist and engineers, many coming out of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, where the company is headquartered. The company has a strong patent portfolio and an outdoor pilot plant in Texas that has been operational since 2010.
