Tesla Motors was founded in 2002 to create electric cars that exemplify the highest standards of automotive performance, efficiency and design. It is currently the only automaker in the US that builds and sells highway-capable electric vehicles (EVs) in serial production.

Tesla is based in Palo Alto, California, and it designs and manufactures both EVs and EV powertrain components. Tesla has delivered more than 1,300 Roadsters to customers in North America, Europe and Asia. The Tesla Roadster accelerates from 0-60 mph in about four seconds yet produces no emissions.
